The Emirates Red Crescent Launches An International Initiative To Help Sponsor 10,000 Orphans In 25 Countries Worldwide
The Emirates Red Crescent Authority, ERD, launched a humanitarian initiative targeting the sponsorship of 10,000 Orphans from 25 different countries, under the slogan “Be Their Family”, throughout all Social Media Platforms, and by sending SMS messages, in affiliation with “Etisalat” Telecommunication Group Company, and by marketing the initiative for three days, starting Thursday 10th of october, to Saturday 12th of October, at shopping malls in several Emirates, where groups of RCE staff and volunteers will be present in several malls in Abu Dhabi (Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi Mall, Marina Mall, Dalma Mall, Bawabat Al Sharq Mall), and in Dubai at (Dubai Mall, Emirates Mall) and in Al Ain (Bawadi Mall and Bawadi Mall).
The volunteers will inform visitors of the malls about the initiative’s importance, status and role in the humanitarian and charitable field of work, aiming for attracting more help by the sponsorship of Orphans.
ERC delegations will also visit different governmental authorities, institutions, and entities starting next week in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, and hold meeting with officials to introduce the initiative and its objectives and suggest the idea of allocating a place at the entrance of each institution for the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. The delegation also coordinated with the banks (Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank and the United Arab Bank) to send SMS’s for their clients regarding the initiative.
More on the initiative his excellency Dr. Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi Secretary General of the Emirates Red Crescent announced that, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, pays close attention to the Orphans Sponsor Project, directing to increase the targeted beneficiaries of the project inside and outside of the UAE.
The secretary General added that this project came to make substantial breakthrough in the Orphans sponsorship program that is adopted by the Authority since its establishment in 1986.
“This new initiative targets 10,000 orphans in 25 Arab and foreign countries, in addition to the UAE,” said Dr. Al Falahi, noting that “The first phase of the initiative will focus on 10 countries, followed by subsequent phases, until reaching the goal of 10,000 orphans, to be under the umbrella of the Authority, affirming the approach of the ERC in achieving qualitative work in charity and humanitarian work, which this time coincides with the “Year of Tolerance”.
The ERC sponsor projects includes orphans, poor families, students inside UAE in addition to people of determination, with the value of 300 dirhams monthly within the UAE, and 150- 300 dirhams overseas, but a lot of the sponsors pay much more bigger value or by giving presents, to put a smile on faces and provide for the needs of whoever is in need of help, either monthly or in special occasions, the payment methods are either cash or by a monthly deduction from the donors bank account directly to the beneficiary’s account.
The number of sponsored by the Authority as of current month of October is 107331, including 104,868 orphans, 142 orphan students in the UAE, and 1065 people of determination, in addition to 1256 families.
