The International Fund For Houbara Conservation Participated With A Distinguished Stand At The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair

The International Fund for Houbara Conservation participated with a distinguished stand in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, organised from April 29 to May 5, 2024 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre. The exhibition is an exceptional platform that brings together different cultures to promote the love of reading, spreading culture and knowledge locally, regionally and globally, and promote cultural exchange and dialogue between peoples.

During the event, IFHC proudly present edits latest educational book from the “Stories from Our Environment” series titled “A Sustainable Future,” a testament to IFHC’s commitment to fostering creative dialogue around environmental conservation. The book brings together 15 stories written by school students and teachers participating in the short story challenge launched by the Fund as part of its educational programme, ‘’Conservation Education: The Houbara Model,’’ in partnership with Emirates Schools Establishment (ESE), educational bodies and schools, showcasing the fusion of literary prowess and artistic creativity.

The stories were distinguished by their focus on authentic animal species linked to the Emirati environment and culture due to their importance in the natural balance. The students’ stories reflected a different plot that combines imagination with reality, emotional connection to living species, and their vision for the future of its sustainability with innovative ideas and solutions.

A number of scientific publications issued by the Fund were also displayed, such as its reference book on the natural history of the Asian bustard and a collection of various scientific research books related to scientific studies of the bustard.

The new educational portal took up an important part of the stand, which contains various educational components, providing visitors to the exhibition with a different experience to understand some aspects related to environmental sciences and learning skills in entertaining heritage formats of games and stories featuring Emirati food, traditions, and hospitality.

His Excellency Abdullah Ghurair Al Qubaisi, Director General of the Fund, expressed his happiness at participating in this exhibition. He pointed out the importance of culture and reading in educating segments of society about environmental species that are deeply connected to our culture in the UAE.

At the core of the IFHC’s participation was a mission to raise community awareness, showcase groundbreaking scientific publications, and promote its transformative educational programme, “Conservation Education: The Houbara Model.” This project aims to instil national values, empower youth, and strengthen the bond between society and its natural heritage, reaffirming Abu Dhabi’s global leadership in environmental stewardship.

IFHC extends its gratitude to all attendees, partners, and stakeholders for making its participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair a resounding success. The Fund looks forward to continuing its efforts in preserving Houbara birds and promoting environmental conservation in the UAE and beyond.
