The IHC Honored At The Global Donors Forum 2012 Held In Kuala Lumpur

The International Humanitarian City (IHC) received the Muslim Philanthropy Award presented during the Global Donors Forum held in Kula Lumpur between 26- 28 of April 2012. HE Shaima Al Zarooni, the IHC CEO received the award granted under the category of corporations which was presented by HRH Raja Dr. Nazrin Shah Ibni Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah, The Crown Prince of the State of Perak, Malaysia.

The Muslim Philanthropy Award is granted to corporations in recognition for their significant positive impact in advancing strategic philanthropy. “Receiving this award is a great honor to the International Humanitarian City, reflecting the United Arab Emirates and Dubai’s commitments towards developing humanitarian work and emphasizing on the significant long-standing leadership of the IHC in advancing strategic philanthropy to overcome the humanitarian challenges and ongoing humanitarian crises”, said HE Shaima Al Zarooni.

The annual Global Donors Forum brings together high-level government and business leaders, donors, social investors, and experts with an aim to promote effective giving and forge strategic partnerships for high-impact and social investment. The forum this year examined the current trends in effective grant-making and launched crucial new philanthropic initiatives such as the Hasanah Trust Fund, the Al-Salsabil Fund and an Academy of Philanthropy.

At the forum, HE Shaima Al Zarooni showcased the International Humanitarian City as an outstanding project being a trendsetting global humanitarian aid and development hub. The IHC provides many of the United Nation agencies and international humanitarian organization with unique specialized facilities and services designed to meet their needs and facilitate humanitarian emergency response.

The two-and-a-half day event focused on covering a wide range of issues such as Emerging Trends, Impact Assessment, International Development, Conflict Prevention, Awqaf and Zakat Management, and Issues in Microfinance
