Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau Partners With The Thailand Pavilion To Showcase Why The Country Is The Perfect Host For Business Events

As one of the most popular attractions at Expo 2020 Dubai, The Thailand Pavilion is delighted to receive welcome support from the Thailand Convention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

As the government agency responsible for developing, promoting and supporting the Thai MICE industry and large-scale events in Thailand, TCEB hopes to use Expo 2002 Dubai to boost the sector and improve human connection, mobility and social and economic development across the globe. By highlighting all the many amazing resources, facilities, attractions and venues found within Thailand, the body is also optimistic that it will be able to host record numbers of large-scale corporate events in the near future.

Speaking at the Thailand Pavilion’s heartwarming Thailand National Day celebrations, Dr. Atchaka Sibunruang, Chairman of the board at TCEB revealed that over 96 million vaccines had already been administered across the country and that Thailand was ready to offer a safe and secure environment for productive and technology-driven business gatherings.

Indeed, whether businesses want to host their event by sun-kissed sands or in amongst the cultural wonders of Thailand’s vibrant cities, the Thailand Pavilion’s immersive exhibitions clearly demonstrate why the nation holds so many amazing opportunities for businesses.

On top of the digital capabilities that are highlighted within the pavilion, Thailand is also home to some awe-inspiring corporate venues.

For instance, the Royal Phuket Marina International Exhibition & Conference Centre (RPMIEC) is located only 25 minutes away from Phuket International Airport, and its beautiful spot by the sparkling ocean makes it the ideal spot for lifestyle events. With 2,500 square metres of indoor floor space, a 1,000 square metre outdoor area and room to accommodate 5,000 boats, it’s the ultimate destination for a lavish and unforgettable meeting of minds.

Meanwhile, Bangkok’s purpose-built True Icon Hall is a state-of-the-art conference centre that delivers the highest levels of luxury and class. Versatile and modern, it can accommodate 2,700 seats over 12,000 square metres of floor space. Ideal for meetings, international conferences, entertainment events, exhibitions, and event sports tournaments, it’s one of the most incredible MICE facilities in Southeast Asia.

Since the pandemic began, Thailand has also worked hard to develop its lesser-known destinations and launch a new central train station which is the biggest in ASEAN.

Dr. Atchaka Sibunruang, Chairman of TCEB, said: “In line with the Pavilion’s theme of ‘Digital Thailand’, we want to share why Thailand is the ultimate destination for business tourism. Just like the UAE, Thailand has handled the pandemic very efficiently and we have even developed our own MICE Venue Hygiene Guidelines. TCEB, along with Thai technology entrepreneurs, has also upgraded our technology infrastructure in order to offer more organised physical, online and hybrid events. Indeed, the Thai government has approved the bidding the inaugural World Specialised Expo, to be hosted in Phuket in 2028, the Horticultural Exhibition at Udon Thani in 2026, and Nakorn Ratchasima in 2029. With these three events projected to generate more than 100 billion baht in revenue, it’s clear that Thailand is dedicated to developing its MICE industry to its fullest potential.”

Mr. Polapee Suwunchwee, Deputy Secretary-General to the Prime Minister for Political Affairs, said: “The Thai MICE industry plays a vital role in the development of Thailand. In fact, the government recently declared 26th April as Thailand’s National MICE Day, reflecting the long and important history of Thailand’s MICE industry, which goes back to the first national trade exhibition in 1882. Since then, this sector has continued to grow from strength to strength, and Thailand was officially named the best destination for conferences in ASEAN from 2016 to 2018. Prior the COVID-19 pandemic, the Thai MICE industry generated an income of over 21 billion US Dollars for the economy and contained over 400,000 jobs. While the pandemic has interrupted our progress, we have been working hard over the last two years to develop the industry’s infrastructure, workforce and technology, and ensure that Thailand is ready for business again once the world reopens.”
