#TeamAngelWolf Attempts Two Guinness World Records!

We’re now 10 days into the third annual Dubai Fitness Challenge, where the emirate’s residents are encouraged to complete at least 30 minutes of exercise every day for 30 days.

In true Dubai Fitness Challenge spirit on Saturday 2nd November, #TeamAngelWolf will attempt to break not one, but two Guinness World Records.

Rio Watson is a 16-year-old boy with a very rare chromosome disorder, which affects his speech and motor skills and makes even simple movements, like walking, a challenge. This doesn’t stop him from taking part in Dubai’s toughest races and Guinness World Record attempts though.

Nick Watson, a former Royal Marine and fitness expert will swim 10km in open water, whilst pulling his 16-year-old son, Rio in a kayak. The two records set to be attempted are:

  • Fastest time to swim 5 km, in open water, pulling a 16-year-old person with disabilities sat in a canoe/kayak.
  • Fastest time to swim 10 km, in open water, pulling a 16-year-old person with disabilities sat in a canoe/kayak.

Nick will have bands attached to his ankles attached to 3km of cords that are attached to the kayak which Rio will be sitting in. This is the first attempt at a world record by #TeamAngelWolf who are renowned for their triathlon participation.

The family routinely participate in racing tournaments in the UAE to raise awareness of inclusion and children with disabilities through the platform of sport. Earlier this year, father, Nick, and son, Rio completed seven half ironman distance triathlons in seven emirates, in just seven days!

As you can see, this is no ordinary family and once again the inspiring #TeamAngelWolf are demonstrating to the world, how with a little help anybody can participate in sports and prove that anything is possible.

#TeamAngelWolf is a non-profit foundation that works to promote the value of togetherness, encourage the inclusion of people with disabilities and for society to embrace their own health. The team have participated in over 190 races since 2014.

Here’s how you can support one of Dubai’s most inspiring families

Cheer on the team at the Dubai Offshore Sailing Club on Saturday 2nd November from 6:00am – 12:00pm.
