Shangri-La Hotels And Resorts In The Middle East Announce End-Of-Year Charity Campaign

Launching on 1 December 2018 and in partnership with the Red Crescent Society and Dar Al Atta’a, Oman, five Shangri-La hotels and resorts across the Middle East have joined forces to support “Goods for Good”, a charity campaign for children in need.

Research by the Institute for Early Education suggests that toys play a vital role in the development of children; without them, necessary skills may not develop.

Toys can enhance a child’s development by promoting socialisation, creativity, emotional security, motor skills and learning and by providing opportunities for inquisitive exploration of the world.  These are important milestones for the healthy progress of children not only emotionally, but also intellectually and physically.

A specially designed donation box will be placed at the participating hotels, where patrons can drop off items, such as reading and colouring books, stationery and toys.  To wrap up the campaign, each hotel will have a weigh-in on 30 December 2018.  The hotels pledge AED 10 for every kilo of goods collected.  All proceeds from the campaign will be given to the hotel’s chosen charity and distributed accordingly.

Across the UAE, Shangri-La Hotel, Dubai, Shangri-La Hotel, Qaryat al Beri, Abu Dhabi and Traders Hotel, Qaryat al Beri, Abu Dhabi have teamed up with the Emirates Red Crescent Society.  Since its inception in 1983, the Emirates Red Crescent Society has played a leading

role in promoting different aspects of humanitarian work on both domestic and international levels.

It aims to mobilise the power of humanity to help the weak and the needy wherever they are and regardless of any of ethnic, cultural, geographic or religious considerations.

Shangri-La Barr Al Jissah Resort & Spa, Sultanate of Oman and Shangri-La Al Husn Resort & Spa, Muscat is collaborating with non-profit charity Dar Al Atta’a, which endeavours to provide the less privileged of society with basic needs to ensure a decent standard of living.

This campaign is in line with Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts’ quest to deliver hospitality from the heart to guests every day while also treating surrounding communities with the same hospitality.  Embrace, Shangri-La’s Care for People project, commits each hotel to a partnership with a chosen beneficiary working on children’s health or education programme.  Each hotel’s Embrace initiative works to improve children’s opportunities in its community with hands-on support.
