Panasonic Launches Facial Recognition And Vehicle Capture Camera At GITEX

Panasonic, a global leader in security systems and network surveillance solutions, will be displaying their i-PRO EXTREME security and surveillance solutions platform which boast the latest lineup of security and surveillance systems, during the GITEX 2018, which also marks the company’s 100th  anniversary.

Comprising of high-tech cameras featuring resolution of up to 4K, H.265 smart encoding technology, software-enabled image enhancements for advanced facial and vehicle recognition in both real-time and post-processing using  deep learning technology , Panasonic’s i-PRO EXTREME end-to-end platform is a technological wonder of the modern era, making it the industry’s most advanced security and surveillance solution available today.

The highlight of the security solution zone at the booth will be Panasonic’s latest Facial Recognition System, Face Pro, which features a  Deep learning algorithm  that can identify faces otherwise difficult to recognize using conventional video surveillance technology. Deep learning Facial Recognition achieved the highest level of face recognition in a Face Identification Challenge by NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology – United States), identifying faces in the following difficult situations:

At an angle of up to 45-degrees to the left or right, or 30-degrees up or down

 Faces partially hidden by sunglasses

 Facial changes through aging

In addition to the aforementioned features, a function to detect faces partially covered using surgical masks will be introduced towards the end of 2018. The software also features an Intelligent Auto mode which automatically tweaks the camera settings for optimal images aiding face recognition. And when coupled with the class-leading high-resolution i-PRO EXTREME series network cameras that are installed with the “Best Shot License Key” bundled with the software, only the best shots are sent to the server for face identification, thus aiding in significant reduction of network and server loads, and lower bandwidth requirements, which in turn translates to substantial cost reduction and support for up to 20 cameras on a single server. Panasonic’s core security devices, when coupled with the face recognition software that runs silently in the background as it collects data on each of the detected faces and subsequently stores those in an easily accessible database, enables the core engine of the software to achieve facial recognition with unprecedented levels of precision. The system may be decked up to register up to 30,000 faces, while an Integrated management with i-PRO video surveillance system allows face detection, recognition, and tracking with recorded video, all in the same GUI.

Options such as Intelligent Auto Mode and Intelligent Zoom stabilization aids in getting rid of unwanted artifacts and “ghost” images, producing crystal clear reproduction of moving people or objects, which aid in precise subject recognition. Features such as the Vehicle Incident Detection system, an option that raises an alarm in the Traffic Management System upon detecting wrong-way driving or stopped vehicles, emphasize Panasonic’s commitment in developing solutions that focus on cost reduction and optimization of workflow.

Tetsuo Okawa, Sales & Marketing Manager – Security Solutions, Panasonic Marketing Middle East and Africa (PMMAF),  in a brief dialogue said, “Video Surveillance technology is evolving faster than ever. Some of our preconceived ideas related to the networked systems also need to evolve in step with these new technologies and based on real-world system implementations. As a result, Panasonic continues to apply its core competencies in video imaging and recording technologies across both analog and networked system platforms. This total system solution product development strategy allows us to provide continued support to legacy system customers-while providing new and more efficient means of migrating to the latest infrastructure technologies like network and wireless. Technology and market conditions are on track to make this next leap in systems performance, and you can count on Panasonic to help pave the way.”

Aiding the software backbone of the i-PRO EXTREME platform are the i-PRO EXTREME series of cameras from Panasonic. Built to last through the harshest of conditions, some of Panasonic’s advanced cameras include the IP66-rated WV-X8570N and S8530N models that feature 4 repositionable lenses, each capable of 4K and FHD resolutions respectively, allowing adjustments that virtually negates blind spots in a variety of applications. Effectively equivalent to four individual cameras, these camera models feature wide-angle pan-tilt-zoom lenses, enabling view angles from 270-degrees to a full 360-degrees, adjustable as per the location and environment, such as traffic intersections, with minimized blind spots even in bottom-view angles. Being vandal proof and extreme weather resistant, these models ensure significantly reduced TCO and simplified workflow due to lesser number of cameras. The range of cameras further extend to several other models, featuring advanced functionalities that include detection of intrusions, loitering, detection of undesirable direction changes, and people counting.

While a higher resolution means better clarity of images in dimly lit environments, Panasonic’s i-PRO EXTREME series cameras are perfectly capable of accurately capturing images in pitch dark 0 lux light situations, using the embedded Infrared LED vision. Other highlights of the cameras include advanced image stabilization, 6x Optical Zoom, Color night vision, and Intelligent zoom stabilization. The H.265 smart coding technology provides a maximum of 95% reduction in total bandwidth size when compared to H.264 without smart coding, whilst ensuring smooth motion and crystal-clear videos.

The i-PRO EXTREME platform ensures excellent end-to-end data protection through a full H.265 encrypted video system with very high security, and adoption of certification keys. In liaison with Symantec, Panasonic combined highly reliable certificates and technology for detecting and analyzing cyber-attacks with their in-house embedded cryptography technology, to provide a highly secure and robust protection layer for the i-PRO EXTREME surveillance products.

With a host of technologically advanced features and solutions aiding subject recognition, Panasonic’s i-PRO EXTREME platform enables flexible and scalable customized product solutions for high-demanding customers hailing from a wide range of industries and sectors that include Hospitality, Education, City and Real Estate, Corporates, Healthcare, Retail, Entertainment, and a lot more. The platform helps clients achieve a significant reduction in total cost of ownership whilst ensuring maximum efficiency and a simplified and improved workflow.
