Nominated For Thirteen Oscar’s The Highly Anticipated Movie – ’The Shape Of Water’ Releases In The UAE On 8th March 2018

The eagerly anticipated ‘The Shape of Water’ is set to release across cinemas in the UAE on the 8th March 2018. The fantasy-drama from master story teller and Director, Guillermo del Toro has received heavy acclaim with a host of accolades to its name, including thirteen nominations at the 90th Academy Awards.

The Oscar’s front runner is set against the backdrop of Cold War era America. It follows lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins), a janitor at a space research facility who finds an immediate connection with a mysterious creature brought to the lab for study . Elisa’s isolated life changes forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover the secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg.

“I wanted to do a movie about an amphibian creature who changes the life of whoever rescues it,” says Guillermo del Toro later, during a break in filming. THE SHAPE OF WATER is the result, and the two characters meeting in this scene for the first time are at its heart. “The idea was, can we tell the story of a creature in another way?” continues del Toro

The American Film Institute selected it as one of the top 10 films of the year. At the 90th Academy Awards, the film received a leading 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Original Screenplay, Best Actress for Hawkins, Best Supporting Actor for Jenkins, and Best Supporting Actress for Spencer. It also won for Best Director and Best Original Score at the 75th Golden Globe Awards, on top of five other nominations. At the 71st British Academy Film Awards, the film received 12 nominations, including Best Film, and won three awards, including Best Director.
