Mums@Work And Bloomberg Host Women In Industry Event

Mums@Work, the UAE-based company with a focus on helping mothers return to work, collaborated with Bloomberg to organize the Women in Industry Event in Dubai. In line with the shared commitment of the two companies to support women to build careers while balancing their family responsibilities, the event explored equality and inclusion in the workplace.

Held at Bloomberg’s offices at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), attendees had the opportunity to gain expert advice from leading professionals in their industries – including finance, media, data, technology and research – and bring themselves up to speed with market trends and practices.

Bloomberg representatives provided insights on their own personal experiences and the company’s focus on creating a gender-diverse and supportive workplace. The packed agenda of informative sessions comprised of lectures and speeches on topics that included ‘The transition; returning to the workplace after a career break’, ‘The power of your network’, ‘Personal branding’, and ‘Building confidence; to create career success’, with speakers including representatives from the 30% Club GCC. The forum concluded with an open Q&A session.

“Our mission is to establish an inclusive work environment where all Bloomberg employees feel respected for their diversity, and empowered to impact the business globally and achieve success,” said Pamela Hutchinson, Global Head of Diversity and Inclusion. “It is through events like these that we encourage and foster diversity and inclusion in the markets we operate in.”

Louise Karim, Managing Director of Mums@Work commented: “In today’s competitive employment landscape, a growing number of working professionals no longer have a cookie-cutter or traditional career path. Businesses that are embracing this flexi-work environment are the ones attracting and retaining great female talent.”

She added: “We recognize the need to change perceptions, and through our collaboration with Bloomberg we aim to inspire women that their dreams to have a successful career does not change, just because they have children. Whether they have been away from the workplace for six months or six years, there are ample career opportunities perfectly suited for them.”

Backed by Mackenzie Jones, one of the top recruitment agencies in the UAE, Mums@Work seeks to help train and secure opportunities for women desiring to return to the workforce after taking time off to care for their families. Together with Bloomberg, the company aspires to encourage diversity and inclusion in the workplace within the region, strengthen the female pipeline and provide access to an untapped female talent pool.
