Ministry Of Health And Prevention To Showcase 4 Smart-Technology-Based Projects At GITEX Technology Week 2019

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) is participating in GITEX Technology Week which will kick off today and lasts until October 10 at Dubai World Trade Centre.

MoHAP’s participation aims at showcasing a number of its latest innovative projects, smart health services, and sustainable development. Based on new technologies such as block-chain, Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality (VR, AR), the new projects aim to reinforce the transformation to a reliable and efficient digital health system to pave the way for the future healthcare and foster the health information systems, so as to improve patients’ experience in accordance with the highest quality standards.

HE Awad Saghir Al Ketbi, Assistant Undersecretary of the Support Services Sector, said: “These innovative projects are constituting an advanced platform offering smart solutions and concepts to bring about a paradigm shift in health services. We are moving now to the new applied technologies such as the block-chain, artificial intelligence and virtual reality to simulate the healthcare future, in partnership with the world’s most renowned technology firms. Our aim is to strengthen the health security, delight our customers and to achieve the standards and enablers of smart government, in line with the UAE Vision 2021.”

Al Ketbi called on GITEX visitors from health professionals, medical companies and individuals to visit MoHAP’s platform at Sheikh Saeed Hall (S1 – A21, S1 – B21) and learn closely about the latest smart innovations and solutions which foster the health system quality and MoHAP’s competitiveness to meet the ongoing and future healthcare needs.

Latest Updates of Hayat App for Organ Donation

One of the projects which will be highlighted at MoHAP’s platform at GITEX 2012 is the block-chain-based app “Hayat”. Hayat has revived hopes of 11000 patients according to doctors’ estimates.

App users can register themselves as organ donors after death, where organ transplantation constitutes a sustainable solution for a large number of patients with heart diseases, pulmonary failure, cirrhosis, and kidney failure.

“Hayat” app is linking all health authorities with the Federal Authority for Identity & Citizenship in support of the UAE brain death protocol, through cloud registries for donors.

Enhancing Nursing Attractiveness Using Virtual Reality (VR)

Also, MoHAP’s platform will witness a new nursing educational and promotional project. It’s built on the 3-Dimensional Virtual Reality (3D – VR) and is tailored to make the learning experience more attractive and interactive.

The project, which is part of the initiative “Enhancing Attractiveness of Nursing Profession”, is targeting secondary school graduates and visitors to further highlight the importance of the nursing profession and motivate the individuals to study nursing.

Through this project, visitors will go through a virtual journey into the nursing world including emergency units, the Intensive Care Nursery (ICN), in which they will face some medical situations which require an intervention to rescue patients through simple methods.

M-Gene Project

It’s one of the latest methods to detect genetic diseases in the newborn. The AI-based project is carried out in collaboration with the Sheikh Zayed Institute for Pediatric Surgical Innovation and the Children’s National Medical Center, Washington.

The M-Gene project provides a smart tool offering a diagnostic face reading for the newborn using a smartphone app with no need to conduct a blood test or any other specialized analyses.

Thousands of cases have benefitted from this technology which is currently available at four hospitals of MoHAP.

The Smart Vaccination APP “Tateem”

The aim of this app is to remind and encourage individuals to regularly follow up on the vaccination given for children, adults, and travelers. The app will also remind its users of the vaccination appointments according to MoHAP’s national immunization program and places where they can receive vaccines.

“Tateem” also stores on its database vaccination dates, thus parents could easily obtain their children’s vaccination information.

Additionally, the app features information about infectious diseases and ways of prevention and is available to download on both Android and Apple phones.
