Milipol Qatar 2018 Unveils Packed Agenda-Setting Seminar Programme Spanning Cybersecurity, Civil Defence And Large Events Security Management

Under the patronage of H.H the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Milipol Qatar 2018, the 12th edition of the leading international exhibition dedicated to homeland security and Civil Defence in the Middle East region, has unveiled a high-caliber seminar programme packed with informative sessions and disruptive panel discussions on the sidelines of the Milipol Qatar 2018 exhibition which will be held from 29-31 October at Doha Exhibition and Convention Centre (DECC).

Featuring industry thought leaders and security experts from around the world; the 2-day seminar programme will take place during the second and third days of Milipol Qatar 2018, and will shape the future for homeland security and civil defence.

This year’s agenda covers three key topics: Cyber security & Cyberthreats, Civil Defence and Large events security management. The sessions will present international attendees, including government-level decision makers, key industry figures and visitors, with the opportunity to gain valuable insights and knowledge into some of the major challenges and opportunities facing the industry today.

A morning session on ‘Cybersecurity and Cyberthreats’ will open the functions of the seminar on October 30, chaired by Mélanie BENARD-CROZAT, Editor in Chief, Security & Defense Magazine  and will feature Key panellists including Loïc Guezo, Southern Europe Cybersecurity Strategist and Director, Trend Micro and Cyberthreat Trusted Advisor for the French Police Nationale; Eng. Khalid N. SADIQ AL-HASHMI, Assistant under Secretary, Cyber Security Department, Ministry of Transport & Communications, State of Qatar;  Ljupcho JOSHEVSKI, Head of Cybersecurity Systems Engineering – Global Security Sales Organization – Middle East & Africa, Cisco Systems Inc.; Dr. Tom KARYGIANNIS, VP Product, Kryptowire; and Dr. John MEAKIN, Group Chief Information Security Officier, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) who will have a security roundup about the threat landscape , and debate the necessary solutions to tackle such threats and improve national resilience; and  Dr. Mohammed Al-Dorani, Chair of Department of Information Technology – Community College of Qatar.

The second session chaired by Emily HOUGH, Editor in Chief, Crisis Response Journal, will focus on Civil Defence with high-profile speakers Chi Wah WU, Assistant Divisional Officer, Station Commander, Sham Tseng Fire Station; Dennis DAVIS, CBE, OStJ, QFSM, MPhil, CEng, FIFireE, CCMI, Advisor on Civil Protection Issues; Tim CUTBILL, Director, Protect & Prepare Ltd; Frédéric HARRAULT, Officer, DGSCGC (French General Directorate for Civil Protection and Crisis Management – Ministry of the Interior) to the stage.

The second day of the seminar begins with a session that will address ‘Large Events Security Management’. Chaired by Loïc Guezo with guest speaker Prefect Nicolas DESFORGES, Former Interministerial Delegate for Major Sporting Events, French Ministry of Urban Affairs, Youth and Sport; followed by a panel debate with Speakers from The Supreme Committee of 2022 FIFA World Cup. The morning will continue with guest speaker Shimizu Satoshi, Corporate Officer, Public Business Enablement Office, Trend Micro Incorporated; Paul FOSTER, Business Development Director, FOAMHAND® Limited; and Steve KEMSLEY, Director of Security and Emergency Services, Atmaana, and Michael Bourton, Managing Director, Rightstone. The session will look at the security aspects of major events and the latest innovative solutions to secure large-scale events, and crowd management planning and operation.

Minors under 16 are not allowed to enter.  The exhibition is open from 9.30am – 5.00pm on Monday, 29 and Tuesday, 30 October, and from 9.30am – 4pm on Wednesday, 31 October. The conference sessions, will run 30-31 October.
