International Institute For Tolerance Opens Nominations For Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award

As the world marks the International Day for Tolerance, the International Institute for Tolerance (IIT) announced that nominations for the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award are now open for entries from across the globe.

IIT called on individuals and entities with outstanding achievements in promoting tolerance worldwide to apply for the Award, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, in line with the UAE’s efforts to instil this value in society and honour the pioneers in this field.

The Award is a tribute to those who champion tolerance within their communities and across the globe as a means of fostering intercultural communication, encouraging interfaith dialogue, and highlighting the true image of Islam as a religion of peace. It focuses on underscoring the importance of tolerance in the areas of human intellect, culture and art.

His Excellency Dr Hamad Al Shaikh Ahmad Al Shaibani, Managing Director of IIT, said: “The Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award seeks to establish a global approach to building a humane international society that believes in pluralism and solidarity, and celebrates global achievements that emphasise the significance of tolerance as a primary language of dialogue.”

He added: “Inspired by the vision of its leadership, the UAE has become a model of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, crafted by its citizens and residents. Innovative initiatives launched in the country in the Year of Tolerance harness intellectual and aesthetic creativity to enhance human relations rooted in mutual respect and acceptance of different perceptions and cultures.”

For his part, His Excellency Major General Ahmed Khalfan Al Mansoori, Secretary General of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Tolerance Award, said: “In addition to acknowledging accomplishments in promoting tolerance around the world, the Award unifies international efforts to renounce intolerance, prejudice and hatred. Furthermore, it stimulates open dialogue aimed at achieving world peace based on universal human values.”
