Internal Auditors Meeting In Abu Dhabi For A Crucial Regional Conference From April 17

The UAE Internal Auditors Association (UAE IAA) is hosting the 19th Annual Regional Audit Conference under the patronage of His Excellency Hamad Al Hurr Al Suwaidi, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Accountability Authority, on April 17 and 18.

The largest and most important gathering of the internal auditors in the region will be attended by more than 550 experts and specialists in internal auditing.

To be held at Jumeirah Etihad Towers, participants from across the region will debate a wide range of professional topics, including challenges emerging from Artificial Intelligence (AI), Data Privacy, Digitization, Cyber Security and Robotics.

Titled ‘Digital Foundation, Endless Possibilities’, the conference  will be addressed by leading auditing professionals and thinkers as keynote speakers on the challenges faced by companies to be alert and transparent to frauds, embezzlement and misappropriation of funds.

Naohiro Mouri, Chairman of IIA Global board, will be the keynote speaker and Karem Obeid, Member of Executive Committee, UAE IAA and Member of IIA Global, will be moderating the session. The conference sponsors include the Key Partners of the association (Deloitte, KPMG, Protiviti & PwC) besides Etihad Airways which is the official airline of the conference.

Abdulqader Obaid Ali, Chairman, UAE IAA, which represents 45 per cent of the total internal auditors in the region, said: “New and emerging technologies are impacting the businesses, necessitating us to upgrade knowledge and skills to remain agile and on the cutting-edge for the benefit of government and organisations. This conference is yet another step in our ongoing efforts to enhance the standards of professionalism and stay tuned to challenging times.”

The conference will feature a panel discussion which will include representatives from Honeywell, IBM and CISCO, and it will be moderated by Dr. Khalid Al Faddah, who is a board audit committee member at STC, Sabic and Vision Invest.

There will be a session about “Augmenting Auditors in the age of Artificial Intelligence” handled by James Taylor who is a business creativity, innovation and IA author and consultant.

The last day of the conference will begin with a keynote session by Karim Sabbagh, CEO of DarkMatter. There will be a White-Collar Crime and Fraud Speaker and Author, Chuck Whitlock, who will highlight the “Seven Essential Controls to Fight Fraud”.

The conference will close with a Live Game Convention unique experience “Gamification / Smart Learning in a World of Digital Transformation” which will be handled by Dr. Dominik Foerschler.

There will be concurrent sessions to be handled by the strategic partners and the sponsors and other invited renowned speakers that will focus on topics related to the conference theme.
