ENGIE Awards The Women Empowerment Trophy At The French Of Africa And The Middle East Trophies Ceremony

On November 25th, the French online newspaper Le Petit Journal, held in Dubai its first ceremony awarding the French of Africa and the Middle East, to showcase the French talent, dynamism and entrepreneurship in the region.

In the presence of the French Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates and the French consul general in Dubai, the newspaper has awarded five French men and women for their innovative, entrepreneurial, cultural or educational initiatives.

ENGIE has created a new category of award, the Women Empowerment Trophy and has proudly sponsored it.  The trophy was awarded to Emma Sawko for her concept store Comptoir 102 and Wild & The Moon, an organic and plastic-free juice bar she opened in Dubai.

‘I’m very happy that ENGIE in sponsoring the award given to Emma Sawko, who is a true role model for women in the Middle East. Emma Sawko has shown great creativity and tenacity and her accomplishments pave the way for other women to succeed in the region. The issue of women empowerment is of great importance for ENGIE, which is still the only of the 40 largest companies in France to be led by a woman, Mrs. Isabelle Kocher. In the field of gender equality and women empowerment, ENGIE has established ambitious targets for 2020, such as reaching 25% of women in the workforce and 35% of women managers, in a Group of 160,000 employees’, commented Florence Fontani, Head of Strategy, Communications & ESR at ENGIE Middle East, South & Central Asia and Turkey.
