DED And DCAA Join Hands To Monitor Aviation-Related Businesses

The Department of Economic Development (DED) in Dubai and the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) will co-operate to strengthen supervision and inspection of businesses related to civil aviation activities in the emirate and also share knowledge, expertise and institutional experience. The partnership is in line with the concerted efforts of government entities to enhance supervision and enforce laws for improved transparency, ease of doing business and quality of government services in Dubai

The partnership agreement was signed by Their Excellences Sami Al Qamzi, Director General of DED, and Mohammed Al Ahli, Director General of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority in the presence of senior officials from both sides.

As per the agreement, DED will inspect commercial establishments authorised for civil aviation activities by DCAA as well as businesses operating in violation of Law No. 7 of 2015 on the security and safety of Dubai’s air space and the Executive Council decision No. 4 of 2017 regarding fees and fines that fall under the jurisdiction of DCAA. DED will coo-ordinate with DCAA on imposing fines while the Authority will provide DED with the required data and train DED inspectors to assume control of the inspection procedures. The two parties shall also co-ordinate with the competent government authorities on enforcing the provisions of the partnership agreement.

“DED and the DCAA working in partnership will further enhance economic and business activity in Dubai and the UAE, and add further value to the services provided to the business community,” Al Qamzi said, adding that the Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector in DED promotes consumer rights protection and adherence to fair trade practices in Dubai by providing information and advice to consumers and retailers about their rights and responsibilities, supporting consumer disputes resolution, and regulating commercial activity.
