DarkMatter Group Unveils Robust Training Program To Bolster Organizations’ Cyber Resilience

DarkMatter Group, the region’s first and only fully integrated digital and cyber transformation firm, today unveiled a first-of-its-kind, personalized cybersecurity-awareness program, Cyber Smart, to equip individual employees at diverse organizations with the skills necessary to defend against the growing threat of complex and destructive cybersecurity attacks.

Cyber Smart is a world-class defense program designed specifically with cybersecurity challenges in mind. With nearly 70 percent of businesses experiencing some kind of cybersecurity attack (1), it is not surprising that many regional victims are making headline news. As these attacks continue to grow in sophistication, so too does the need for education, training, and awareness. That is exactly what Cyber Smart has been built to address.

“Employees are the first line of defense against online crime. Unfortunately, in the UAE and around the world, employees are also often the weakest link in an organization’s cybersecurity chain,” said Rabih Dabboussi, Senior Vice President of Business Development, Sales and Marketing, DarkMatter Group. “Cyber Smart will change that by equipping employees with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively identify and respond to cyberattacks in real-time, ultimately weaving cybersecurity into the very fabric of organizations’ DNA.”

‘Fostering cyber expert workforces’

As DarkMatter Group’s latest semi-annual Cyber Security Report for 2019 revealed, the human factor remains the most targeted vulnerability by threat actors. Almost 90 percent of cyberattacks are caused by human error (2), while 91 percent of all cyberattacks happen through email phishing (3).

Offered to and implemented by DarkMatter Group’s government and private-sector clients, Cyber Smart is designed to address security vulnerabilities by assisting diverse organizations in cultivating workforces comprised exclusively of cyber experts by providing:

  1. ACCREDITED CYBERSECURITY TRAINING MODULES that are compliant with the Information Assurance Standards of the UAE and globally recognized as effective awareness-building tools.
  2. DATA-DRIVEN INSIGHTS to identify gaps in cybersecurity infrastructure and mitigate potential risks.
  3. RISK-MANAGEMENT TRACKING of priorities, programs and activities that may undermine or amplifying an organization’s cyber resilience, in real-time.
  4. PERSONALIZED SESSIONS tailored to the strengths and weaknesses of each individual employee.
  5. ROLE-BASED EDUCATION AND CUSTOMIZED SESSIONS to equip individual employees, from interns to C-suite executives, with the knowledge and skills necessary to contribute to the organization’s overall digital security.
  6. CLOUD-BASED LEARNING that affords employees the flexibility to access training modules anywhere, anytime, at their individual convenience.

‘Safe and secure digital experiences’

One of the first customers embarking on this program is Expo 2020 Dubai, which will welcome 25 million visits from around the world during a six-month period. The event will be the most digitally advanced in Expo history, placing huge emphasis on its cybersecurity protocols.

In order to keep its visitors safe and secure, Expo 2020 Dubai selected the Cyber Smart program, from DarkMatter Group, Expo 2020’s Official Cyber Security Provider. All Expo employees will participate in the training, ensuring that the event will be run by an intelligent, cyber-smart army of staff keeping millions of visitors, participants, and delegates from 192 countries safe and secure every day, at one of the world’s largest gatherings of nations.

“Expo 2020 Dubai is one of the most ambitiously innovative and digital-first projects the UAE has ever seen,” said Rashid Mohammed Alhashmi, Deputy Chief Technology Officer, Expo 2020 Dubai. “We are proud to partner with DarkMatter Group during this journey and more specifically to be able to educate and train our dedicated workforce through the Cyber Smart program,” he concluded.

‘Safeguarding UAE’s social and economic prosperity’

In addition to contributing to the digital education, advancement and resilience of individuals, organizations and events like Expo 2020 Dubai, Cyber Smart also contributes to the UAE’s Vision 2021, a long-term social and economic development plan that places significant emphasis on diversifying an increasingly knowledge-based Emirati economy and population.

“We are proud of this program, and also take great pride in our role of keeping the UAE and wider Middle East region smart and safe amidst rising cyber threats in the digital world. The Cyber Smart initiative has been designed with this very region in mind, by experts from within the region, making it the most comprehensive and customized training program to date,” concluded Dabboussi.

The Cyber Smart training program is available to all businesses and government entities. For more info on the program, see link.
