Careem Launches #StartEarly Campaign In Honour Of Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Cancer to many is a word that carries an immeasurable burden, holding distressing emotions of fear, grief, and pain. Known to be the most common cancer among women, breast cancer impacts one in eight women. As part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the leading technology company in the MENA region, Careem, launches #StartEarly campaign to raise awareness on the importance of early detection in the battle against the disease.

Facilitated by the Aljalila Foundation, the campaign features four cancer survivors interviewed by Careem. The female warriors understand the weight that comes with a breast cancer diagnosis better than anyone and have used their personal fight against the disease to share a silver lining for others. Together with Careem they are spreading the word about the importance of early diagnosis and regular checkups.

“Sometimes it has to hit us hard to really appreciate all that we are blessed with in life,” says cancer survivor Natalia, while explaining the valuable lesson she learned throughout her journey with breast cancer. “You don’t have to wait to get cancer to start appreciating what you have in life, learn to count your blessings day by day and rest assured, whatever misfortune you might face will eventually come to an end,” she continues.

“Don’t underestimate your health!” expresses Ghadeer another survivor of breast cancer, on the other hand calling all women to value their health as a gift to be taken good care of. “Early diagnosis can be life-saving, as it opens the way for increased treatment options leading to more chances of survival,” she adds.

During the pink month, Careem, in partnership with Plaisir Cadeaux et Fleurs has also decorated cars within its fleet with pink roses in an attempt to raise awareness to its passengers about early screening for breast cancer, reminding people to #StartEarly.
