Animated Comedy ‘The Addams Family’ Opens In Movie Theatres On 31 October
Click, click! Families across the region will be getting ready to snap their fingers this Halloween as The Addams Family movie opens in theatres on 31 October 2019.
Long adored for being creepy, mysterious and spooky, The Addams Family returns to the big screen in the first animated comedy about this kooky family. Gomez, Morticia, Pugsley, Wednesday, Uncle Fester, and Grandma join a lively cast of characters to remind cinema-goers why they are the most eccentric family in the neighborhood, promising a funny and outlandish day out for the entire household.
“It was of utmost importance to us that we not only make this film for six-year-old children; but that we made it for families. You’ve got to entertain the parents, too. And, when you have a property like this, that has stretched back to the 1930s, you have people that are ostensibly ninety years old who are fans of The Addams Family. So, we were very careful to make sure that this movie entertained the family and we mean six and eight-year-olds, we mean fourteen-year-olds, we mean twenty-two-year-olds, we mean thirty-five, forty-seven, fifty-six – all the way up. We want to make sure that everyone gets something out of this movie”, said co-director Conrad Vernon.
Taking inspiration from Charles Addam’s original 1930’s New Yorker comics, the story of this nostalgic family is retold in a way film fans have never seen before, with a new look, neighbor and origin story to boot. The animated feature film follows the everyday eccentricities of The Addam’s Family mansion as they struggle to contend with the mundane normality of their community whilst dodging the vendettas of their perfectionist-mad neighbor Margaux Needler. A hilarious and endearing tale of acceptance, The Addams Family will inspire people of all ages to embrace a new idea of what is normal.
Co-Directed by Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan who are responsible for a slate of successful animations including Shrek 2 (2004) and Madagascar 3: Europe’s Most Wanted (2012), The Addams Family features a stellar cast as the voices of its main characters.
Playing the dad, Gomez Addams, is Oscar Isaac one of the great young actors of today known for his lead role in the Coen Brother’s Inside Llewyn Davis. Hollywood icon and Academy Award winner Charlize Theron stars as mom Morticia Addams, whilst Chloe Grace Moretz known for her break-out role in Kick Ass (2010) takes on the voice of daughter Wednesday Addams and Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard plays son Pugsley. Other famous cast members includes rapper Snoop Dogg as cousin It, the legendary Bette Midler as grandma and Alison Janney as Margaux Needler.
