Al-Futtaim Lexus Introduces The Most Captivating New 2020 Lexus RX With A Refreshed Brave Design, Technology And Class-Leading Safety Features

Al-Futtaim Lexus today announced the launch of the 2020 Lexus RX luxury crossover, in both petrol and Hybrid Electric options.

Refreshing the fourth-generation of the model, the new RX features evolutionary changes to the brand’s core model, which helped establish the luxury SUV segment when it was first introduced in 1998. For the 2020 model, the luxury crossover gets a number of updates with the changes focused on styling, technology and safety.

Mohammed Maktari, Managing Director, Al-Futtaim Lexus, said, “With the latest updates, the RX is truly in a class of its own. The new model features a range of interior and exterior enhancements build on the iconic luxury crossover’s appeal that contributes to the reinvigorated design and comfort of its driver and passengers.

“With the 2020 RX, Lexus has improved the tried and tested hybrid electric system and the new RX 450h and RX 450hL continue to serve as a powerful reminder of the brand’s hybrid leadership. The Hybrid Electric variants also further reinforce our commitment to the UAE Governments 2021 vision and provide an appealing option to individuals and families looking to reduce their carbon footprint.”

Lexus introduced the world’s first luxury self-charging RX Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) more than a decade ago and the Japanese brand has sold over a million HEV’s worldwide since the first generation of the RX400h was introduced.

All Lexus HEV’s combine the power of petrol with the efficiency of an electric motor to deliver the perfectly balanced, smooth and high-performance drive. From idle, the vehicle starts off using the electric motor only for seamless acceleration to road speed where the gasoline engine kicks in. The two power sources work together to deliver an amazing driving experience and no ‘shift shock.’ The electric motor is self-charging so there is no need to plug in your car, therefore, no additional infrastructure like charging stations are required.

Lexus HEV Technology

The Hybrid technology switches off its gas engine while decelerating and coming to a stop which means fewer fuel stops, more savings and no range anxiety compared to Electric vehicles. The 2020 RX hybrid, with 308 combined system horsepower provides an estimated 62.5% more fuel efficiency (13.1 Km/L vs 8.0 Km/L in city driving) and produces 31% fewer emissions compared to its gasoline counterpart.

Extended Warranty on Lexus HEV battery

Providing customers with an added peace of mind, starting this month, Al-Futtaim Lexus is offering customers purchasing Lexus Hybrid models with an exclusive 8 years/160,000Km Hybrid Battery Warranty.

“Lexus is a pioneer in sustainable fuel solutions, launching its first hybrid vehicle in 2004 and has since sold over 1.45 million hybrid vehicles worldwide. The brand has gradually expanded its hybrid line-up and is the luxury brand with the widest hybrid models today. With lower CO2 emissions and reduced petrol consumption, Lexus aims to take a responsible approach towards the environment,” said Mr. Maktari.

He added, “In the UAE, our hybrid sales have been increasing since the introduction of our first HEV model back in 2010 and today, sales of the RX hybrid model account for 36% of our total RX sales. We invite all our customers to visit our showrooms and take one out for a test drive to experience it for themselves.”

On the outside, the 2020 RX retains a powerful and sporty appearance, while the character line that runs from the front of the vehicle to the rear has been improved taking cues from the stylish LC Coupe and LS sedan. The updated front and rear fascias of the new 2020 Lexus RX and RXL offer a newfound sharpness and reflect the evolving Lexus design philosophy with a balance between sophistication and strength. Adding more utility to the rear of the vehicle, the power back door is now activated by an optional kick sensor to open and close faster.

Interior changes are focused on rider comfort and the three-row model now has more adjustment in the back row while the second row gets an update with captain’s seats (for selected RX L and RXH L grades only) helping to create a spacious and comfortable cabin for RX’s rear-seat occupants.

The vehicle is powered by a 296-horsepower, 3.5-litre V6 in the RX350 and a 3.5-litre V6 paired with two electric motors making a combined 308 horsepower in the RX450h hybrid.

All 2020 RX models come standard with the latest smartphone vehicle integrations and their respective virtual assistants including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Customers can access the same familiar interface of their desired technologies through the RX’s standard 12.3-inch touchscreen dashboard display.

Significant improvements to the 2020 RX are the changes to the suspension and increased body rigidity as Lexus Chief Engineer Takeaki Kato was determined to deliver a pleasurable driving experience through agile handling and exhilarating driving pleasure and his engineering team worked closely with the production team to achieve this goal.

The 2020 Lexus RX receives several changes designed to enhance the driving dynamics across the lineup. Both the front and rear stabilizer bars are now hollow to reduce weight, yet their thicker diameters and reinforced bushings help reduce body roll and improve steering response. The shock absorbers have been re-tuned to work with the stiffer roll bars, while upgraded dampers feature a new friction control device that helps to control high-frequency vibrations for a smoother ride.

To further refine the 2020 Lexus RX responsiveness, a stiffer suspension design reduces the noise and vibration from the road. Even on turns, the added active corner braking assist technology helps prevent understeering. Additional rigidity is achieved through extra spot welds and adhesive.

Also, the new RX is equipped with the world’s first BladeScan Type AHS* and the latest generation of Lexus Safety System +* while the new F SPORT package also includes cold air intake, active sound control and Electric Power Steering (EPS).

The 2020 RX starts from AED 230,000 and is available across all Al-Futtaim Lexus showrooms in the UAE. For more information, visit www.lexus.ae or call 800-LEXUS (800 53987).
