ADEK: Key government entities to showcase multiple groundbreaking initiatives at the Abu Dhabi Science Festival 2019

Abu Dhabi, 5th February 2019: Held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, and organized by the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK), the Abu Dhabi Science Festival (ADSF) 2019 is hosting the 5th edition of Innovator 2019 where government entities get to showcase their innovative ideas.

Innovator 2019 is one of the main attractions at the ADSF 2019. Till February 9th, visitors at A’l Bahar, Abu Dhabi Corniche, will have the opportunity to learn about pioneering and innovative projects developed to serve the community.

Mr. Salem Al Shamsi, Director of the ADSF 2019 project and Acting Knowledge Management and Education Analytic Director at ADEK, said, “Under the umbrella of UAE Innovation Month, ADEK is coordinating with Abu Dhabi government entities to create initiatives that stimulate innovation in all areas and celebrate both individuals’ and entities’ innovative ideas, while providing a platform to showcase them across the community. These initiatives will contribute to enhancing students´ skills, motivating creativity, and encouraging talented students to participate in innovative projects and ideas. This interprets the aspirations of the UAE’s wise leadership in transforming Abu Dhabi into an Innovation Hub.

“Innovator 2019 includes the participation of multiple government entities in Abu Dhabi, showcasing several groundbreaking initiatives and displaying a range of exciting projects that serve the community and stimulate innovation in all fields,” he added.

Some of the participating entities are: The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism; the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department; the Department of Transport; the Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities; Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council; the Abu Dhabi’s Smart Solutions and Services Authority; Abu Dhabi Ports; Abu Dhabi Police; the Family Development Foundation, Monitoring and Control Centre; the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry; the Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company; Emirates Astronomical Observatory; Khalifa University; United Arab Emirates University; United Printing and Publishing; and National Geographic.

The Department of Culture and Tourism is offering a virtual reality tour of Abu Dhabi while showcasing ´Murshed the Robot´ along with other smart systems. The Judicial Department is demonstrating the “Inform the Prosecution” app and the ´implementation officers´ car. Also, the Department of Transport is presenting a range of initiatives, including the ´AL GARNAS´ drone and other services.

On the other hand, The Department of Urban Planning and Municipalities is displaying a range of new technical services that facilitate operations and transactions, together with ´Nashmi´, the robot and other smart software and systems. The Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council (QCC) is presenting three smart systems: Water Management Systems, Smart follow-up, and its system for accurately checking measurements. The Smart Solution and Services Authority is participating with ´Tamm´, a project designed to facilitate government operations for individuals and public entities using the latest technologies.

Abu Dhabi Ports is presenting innovations in the field of maritime transport while, The Abu Dhabi Police is displaying special ambulances for children, and the Family Development Foundation is showcasing its main programme, the ´H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Community Excellence and Intelligence Programme´, together with other programmes and workshops for children.

The Monitoring and Control Centre is displaying the first book on artificial intelligence in the world, as well as fascinating facial recognition systems using artificial intelligence techniques and virtual reality. The Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is presenting the Future Entrepreneurs award for youths under the slogan: ´Towards a creative, innovative, invested and entrepreneurial generation´. The Abu Dhabi Sewerage Services Company is presenting its Strategic Tunnel Enhancement Programmes (STEP), a program to upgrade the main drainage system throughout the city.

The Emirates Mobile Observatory is showcasing a telescope enabling visitors to see stars and planets, along with a display of rocks and telescopes/binoculars.

Khalifa University is displaying an agricultural robot among other technologies, and the United Arab Emirates University is showcasing the ‘Google Innovation Hub’ app.

The United Printing and Publishing Company is presenting the latest printing and publishing products, magazines and innovations; and finally, the National Geographic is showcasing its latest products and offerings.

Since the 31st January and until the 9th February 2019, visits are being organized for schools from 9 am to 1 pm, and for the general public from 4 pm to 10 pm.  During the weekends, it will be open from 2 pm to 10 pm.
