US$270,000 Up For Grabs: Krypto Labs Announces Top 5 Finalists Of EdTech Innovation Start-Up Competition 2018

The EdTech Innovation Start-up Competition 2018 sets light on the importance of technology in the context of education

In its efforts to discover and fund high-potential entrepreneurs and ground-breaking start-ups, the innovation hub, Krypto Labs, revealed the top five finalists for the EdTech Innovation Start-up Competition 2018. Selected by a panel of global experts in education technology, the pitch will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 12th, 2018 wherein the ‘Entrepreneur Hero’ will receive US$150,000 in addition to US$20,000 awarded to the winners of each of the five categories amounting to a total of US$270,000.

The EdTech Innovation Start-up Competition 2018 sets light on the importance of technology in the context of education, while focusing on the significance of artificial intelligence to positively impact existing educational ecosystems.

Krypto Labs received more than 800 applications from across 58 countries since the opening of the application process in August 2018. Startups from United Arab Emirates, United States, Canada, Germany, France, India, Singapore and Kenya have applied wherein some applications included participants from prominent universities such as Duke University, John Hopkins University, and Stanford University amongst others.

From these shortlisted businesses, the jury of global experts in education technology selected the following five finalists for the EdTech Innovation Startup Competition 2018;

  • Key 2 Enable, from Brazil. (Universal Access)
  • Parlay Ideas, from Canada. (Supplemental Applications)
  • 42Lab, from Singapore. (Supplemental Applications)
  • Klazz, from Germany. (Lifelong Learning Applications)
  • Kamkalima, from Lebanon. (Curriculum Applications) 

Dr. Saleh Al Hashemi, Managing Director of Krypto Labs said, “I want to congratulate the top five finalists who stood out from a great number of applicants with ideas that have the potential to touch a million lives and enhance the education industry.”

This has been made possible because of the UAE’s unique positioning in the region as an innovation and technology hub that inspires innovators and entrepreneurs to share their ideas and showcase their products without limits.”
