H.E. Yaser Bin Ebrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Kingdom of Bahrain, said: \u201cMiddle East Energy has always been more than an exhibition or a conference. It exists to showcase progress on infrastructure plans, to convert conversations into formal partnerships, and to accelerate the projects that will define the next generation of energy leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Al Kaabi, Assistant Undersecretary for the Electricity, Water, and Future Energy Sector at the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, said: \u201cOver five decades, the Middle East Energy exhibition has solidified its role as an international platform that brings together decision-makers, energy sector leaders, investors, and technology providers in the UAE. It paves the way for partnerships and solutions that support the evolution of the energy sector and keep pace with its growing needs.\u201d<\/p>\n
His Excellency added: \u201cThe exhibition gains increasing importance in light of the UAE\u2019s expansion in clean energy projects, the development of power grids, the enhancement of energy and water efficiency, and the deployment of digital technologies and artificial intelligence. These efforts support the construction of a secure, resilient energy ecosystem capable of keeping pace with future growth.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 50th edition opened with a high-level ceremony led by H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, who officially opened the event alongside H.E. Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, and David Lynn, CEO of inD, before touring the exhibition floor. The Leadership Summit further brought together senior policymakers, energy investors and global leaders, including H.E. Yaser Bin Ebrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, Kingdom of Bahrain; Bruce Johnson, Director \u2013 Corporate Finance & Treasury, Masdar; Hon. Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe, Federal Minister of Power, Nigeria; Mina Arif, General Manager MEA, Microsoft; Francesco La Camera, Director General, International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA); alongside senior executives from leading global energy and technology companies. Across the exhibition and conference programme, several clear themes emerged as defining the industry\u2019s near-term agenda. Closer collaboration between government and the private sector was a recurring priority, with speakers and delegates highlighting public-private partnerships as an important route to unlocking new power projects and responding to accelerating demand.<\/p>\n
The 2026 event continued in its unique position to also build opportunities for each part of the interconnected energy value chain to exchange ideas, develop partnerships and connect investment with projects. This year\u2019s edition represented the accelerated growth of the energy industry in the region, with $98 billion in live energy projects held by attendees joining Middle East Energy from across the globe, over doubling from $45 billion represented in 2025. \u00a0This was particularly evident through the Energy Club, the exclusive VIP programme at Middle East Energy, which brought together senior decision-makers from organisations including the World Bank Group, Blackstone, Masdar, ADNOC, Microsoft, Mitsubishi Power EMEA, Infinity Power, TAQA, KEC International, the African Development Bank and Rwanda Energy Group.<\/p>\n
The unprecedented growth in electricity demand driven by AI and data centres featured prominently in discussions, including a fireside conversation on \u201cPowering the AI Era: Building Sustainable Data Centres for the Future of Energy\u201d, which brought together Khalifa Almheiri, Acting Chief Operating Officer, Masdar, and Khalid Bin Hadi, CEO, Siemens Energy UAE, with Sevayash Rahnema, Partner, Pinsent Masons, as chair. The 2027 edition is due to build on this, with the timely launch of Powering AI, an event experience focused on the delivery of the energy demand required to meet the accelerating ambitions for digital infrastructure.<\/p>\n
The 50th anniversary edition also hosted the inaugural Dubai Global Leaders Series, convened in partnership with the Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism and inD, which brought policymakers, investors and technology leaders together for closed-door discussions on the future of the region\u2019s energy landscape; the first in an exclusive partnership that will host leadership meetings, roundtables and summits at flagship inD events across Dubai.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Powered By Her, a new energy leadership initiative backed by the UAE Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure (MoEI), launched with a group of Founding Ambassadors sharing their perspectives on creating stronger opportunities for the next generation of women in energy.<\/p>\n
Building on momentum from COP30, Middle East Energy 2026 also hosted the Ministry of Energy & Infrastructure\u2019s first Global Energy Efficiency Alliance (GEEA) Executive Technical Roundtable, bringing together H.E. Sharif Al Olama and 30 CEOs from across the global energy sector for a session focused on moving energy efficiency from commitments to action. The roundtable was followed by the signing of a declaration form by Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Hitachi Energy, Siemens Energy and Net0, joining the Global Energy Efficiency Alliance.<\/p>\n
For exhibitors, the event provided a gateway into some of the world\u2019s fastest-growing energy markets, with international companies using the platform to display technologies, build relationships with buyers and explore new commercial opportunities across the region.<\/p>\n
Talking of the event\u2019s ongoing relevancy to the market, Trina Storage, a global leader in energy storage solutions and a business unit of\u00a0Trinasolar, said \u201cEnergy storage is becoming increasingly critical to the Middle East\u2019s evolving energy landscape as countries accelerate renewable energy deployment and invest in more flexible, resilient power infrastructure. As deployment accelerates, collaboration between technology providers, utilities, developers and policymakers will be essential to ensure projects can be delivered at the scale and speed required. Beyond established industry leaders, Middle East Energy also provided a platform for emerging companies and the technologies shaping the sector\u2019s next wave. The Innovation Challenge brought emerging solutions and new ideas in front of industry leaders and investors, while the Exhibitor Awards recognised standout companies and solutions across the show floor.<\/p>\n
