Organised by the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), the festival will bring together a significant number of palm farmers from around the UAE, showcasing different varieties and types of dates.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s festival, which runs until July 28, will also feature numerous competitions aimed at encouraging local farmers who have achieved the highest quality in their palm farm production.<\/p>\n
Celebrating the cultivation of palm trees, Al Dhaid Date Festival 2024 will offer opportunities for dates farmers and suppliers to market their products and forge business deals.It features a series of main competitions and valuable prizes that will be awarded to 130 winners across various categories.<\/p>\n
The eighth edition of the festival introduces a new \u2018dates competition\u2019 for children called \u201cRatb Al Kharaif Beauty,\u201d making its debut in the UAE. It also marks the debut of the \u201cRare Dates\u201d competition that is dedicated to agricultural areas in Al Dhaid and the eastern and northern regions.<\/p>\n
These contests join other main competitions lined up for the participating farmers, such as \u201cThe Most Beautiful Home-grown Dates\u201d (only for women), \u201cBest Lemons\u201d, \u201cFig Contest\u201d, and other competitions that are expected to see intense competition among participating farmers.<\/p>\n
The 2024 edition of the festival will also feature a range of economic and commercial events and activities, performances by folklore bands, competitions and various cultural programmes, designed to promote knowledge about palm trees and their different varieties and types.<\/p>\n
The festival seeks to encourage palm farm owners to promote their date cultivation, adopt the best methods for protecting palm trees from pests, enhance product quality, and expand the cultivation of commercial varieties, thereby contributing to advancements in agricultural development and food security.<\/p>\n
The festival will commence with the \u201cKhneizi Dates Beauty Contest\u201d and the \u201cWomen\u2019s Makhrafa Dates Beauty Contest\u201d, to be followed by the \u201cAl-Khalas Dates Beauty Contest\u201d and the \u201cRed Fig\u201d Competition the next day. On July 27, the festival will host the \u201cShishi Dates\u201d and \u201cLocal Lemon\u201d Beauty Contests, along with the \u201cRatb Al Kharaif Beauty\u201d Contest for children, while the last day will feature the \u201cGeneral Elite Dates Beauty Contest\u201d and \u201cRare Dates\u201d competitions.<\/p>\n
The Organising Committee of the Al Dhaid Date Festival has outlined a set of specific standards and criteria for participation in the dates\u2019 competitions. Participants must present dates that are locally produced in the 2024 season, sourced from the private farms of the participants.<\/p>\n
Held in strategic partnership with Al Wusta Channel, the 8th edition of the festival provides an excellent platform for visitors to explore and taste the finest and the best varieties of dates and fruits. It is open daily from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM at Expo Al Dhaid.<\/p>\n
