The \u201cTop CEO Conference and Awards\u201d and the \u201cArab Women Forum\u201d have drawn a successful conclusion at the King Abdullah Economic City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where business leaders and more than 30 expert speakers from across the Middle East gathered to discuss the burning issues facing the corporate world today. The events ran from April 9<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/sup><\/span> to 11<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/sup><\/span> and included more than 30 key sessions under the \u201cParadigm Shift\u201d theme, aiming to drive radical change in the region\u2019s society and economy.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The first day of the conference kicked off with the newly launched \u201cArab Women Forum,\u201d which featured sessions on \u201cThe Economic Revolution,\u201d \u201cEntrepreneurs,\u201d \u201cArab Women\u2019s Image,\u201d \u201cBalance,\u201d \u201cThe Community-Based New Economy\u201d and \u201cPolitical Representation.\u201d These ran alongside the \u201cTop CEO Conference,\u201d which included a private SFO Roundtable, a private meeting of the \u201cSociety of Family Offices,\u201d and the \u201cAMEX CFO Summit\u201d organised by Strategic Sponsor American Express, which focused on \u201cThe Top 5 Challenges for 2018 and Beyond,\u201d \u201cBeyond Numbers,\u201d \u201cHarnessing Data Technology,\u201d \u201cThe Cash Flow Drain\u201d and \u201cThe Challenging Regulatory Environment.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The second day saw attendees at the \u201cTop CEO Conference\u201d participating in a comprehensive agenda of sessions covering topics ranging from \u201cThe Execution Challenge,\u201d \u201cMoving Away from Bureaucracy\u201d and \u201cMaintaining Momentum\u201d to \u201cThe Social Model,\u201d \u201cThe Private Sector\u201d and \u201cA New Era.\u201d Other topics include \u201cLevelling the Playing Ground,\u201d \u201cInternationalising Business,\u201d \u201cLean and Mean\u201d and \u201cStartups: Rethinking the Ecosystem,\u201d as well as forward-thinking sessions on \u201cBeyond Vision 2030\u201d and \u201cSecuring the Future.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

While emphasizing on the concept of restricting businesses, Iyad\u00a0Malas, Partner, Gateway Fund, said: \u201cAdapting to a changing economic and political environment is a normal process for any business. Many companies have had to deal with low oil prices, financial crises and political upheavals in the past. Companies with strong risk management systems and dynamic management teams in place have been able to adapt and come out stronger. While in the past it was difficult to restructure companies, many businesses have learned from their predecessors and have become more open to the idea of corporate transformations.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Khaled Al Maeena, Managing Partner, Quartz Communications, commented on the ongoing women empowerment drive in the region: \u201cThe women empowerment drive will succeed no matter what. In my office there is a sign that says \u201cthe best man for the job is a woman.\u201d Gulf women are dedicated, productive and have the drive to accomplish more. Some need mentoring and encouragement. The gender bias also has to be wiped out forever.\u201d<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Emphasizing the need to ensure a robust planning for successful execution of projects,\u00a0Ghada Elkeissi, Director, Software Engineering & Analytics GE Digital, Middle East & Africa,\u00a0said: \u201cOne key element for successful execution is to select your right ecosystem of partners and vendors to get the right industrial and technological solutions with the right expertise appointed.
