{"id":5709,"date":"2018-04-10T09:18:45","date_gmt":"2018-04-10T09:18:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/middleeastevents.com\/blog\/?p=5709"},"modified":"2018-04-10T09:18:45","modified_gmt":"2018-04-10T09:18:45","slug":"tashkeel-launches-new-book-reference-point-a-history-of-tashkeel-and-uae-art-to-mark-10-year-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.middleeastevents.com\/blog\/tashkeel-launches-new-book-reference-point-a-history-of-tashkeel-and-uae-art-to-mark-10-year-anniversary\/","title":{"rendered":"Tashkeel Launches New Book &#8216;Reference Point: A History Of Tashkeel And UAE Art&#8217; To Mark 10-Year Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tashkeel, the Dubai-based contemporary art and design organisation, has launched a new book that documents its growth since 2008 and that of the UAE arts scene.<\/p>\n<p><em>Reference Point: A History of Tashkeel and UAE Art<\/em>\u00a0includes a Q&amp;A with Lateefa bint Maktoum, Founder and Director of Tashkeel, and contributions from notable members of the art community including Anabelle de Gersigny, Beth Derderian, Kevin Jones, Mark Pilkington, Melissa Gronlund, Mishaal Al Gergawi and Riem Ibrahim.<\/p>\n<p>The 228-page book, which has been edited by Melissa Gronlund\u2013 a chief arts correspondent for The National \u2013 begins with a foreword by Lateefa bint Maktoum and features essays and photos that chronicle the journey of Tashkeel and practitioners who have been part of its development from 2008 until now.
