{"id":36006,"date":"2021-05-17T14:57:04","date_gmt":"2021-05-17T10:57:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.middleeastevents.com\/blog\/?p=36006"},"modified":"2021-05-17T14:57:04","modified_gmt":"2021-05-17T10:57:04","slug":"china-gearing-up-for-international-travel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.middleeastevents.com\/blog\/china-gearing-up-for-international-travel\/","title":{"rendered":"China Gearing Up For International Travel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Addressing delegates at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wtm.com\/atm\/en-gb.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>Arabian Travel Market 2021<\/u><\/a> at the Dubai World Trade Centre, DrAdam Wu, CEO, CBN Travel &amp; MICE, which has offices in Beijing and London, said that China was ready for international travel &#8211; it has already opened its borders to 36 European and 13 Asian countries.<\/p>\n<p>DrWu was speaking via video link during a conference panel session on the opening day of the show (16 May) and confirmed that according to China\u2019s civil aviation administration, a total of 105 airlines including 19 Chinese carriers, are now flying to 55 different countries, culminating in 294 round trip flights per week.<\/p>\n<p>About marketing to Chinese consumers,Dr Wu recommended, \u201cChinese speaking staff, a Chinese language website and post regularly on Chinese social media platforms such as DouYin(TikTok), (which as of Q1 2020 had over 800 million active users),\u201d he commented.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, during a China-focused study on both traffic and shopper insights, Swiss research agency\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.m1nd-set.com\/\">m1nd-set<\/a>\u00a0found that due to China\u2019s robust consumer confidence and \u00a0relentless desire to travel,\u00a0<strong>2021 will mark the beginning of a robust return to growth for the retail travel sector<\/strong>and should witness\u00a0<strong>an increase of more than 200% in international departures during the year<\/strong>to reach around 30 million international departures.<\/p>\n<p>China is due to reachits p<strong>re-Covid levels in 2023,<\/strong>when outbound traffic is forecast to reach 88 million following 108% growth in 2022 and a further 44% in 2023.The number of Chinese visitors travelling to Dubai, rose year-on-year by 15.5% to 989,000 tourists in2019 and should be one of the M.E region\u2019s first destinations to benefit from an overall increase in China\u2019s appetite for overseas leisure travel.<\/p>\n<p>Another panelist, H.E. Mr. Zayed R. Alzayani, Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism for the Kingdom of Bahrain andChairman of Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, revealed that it was a part of Bahrain\u2019s international strategy to encourage more inbound tourists from China.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur initial strategy was to concentrate on local and regional travel first and then focus on international travel. At the end of 2019 we were ready and committed to start a campaign to bring Chinese visitors to Bahrain. We were planning a direct flight with Gulf Air, but then the pandemic hit and all of our plans were put on hold. China remains a priority,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Other panelists included Helen Shapovalova, Founder, Pan Ukraine, Sumathi Ramanathan, Vice President, Market Strategy &amp; Sales at Expo 2020 Dubai,Alma Au Yeung Corporate Director \u2013 Strategic Projects and Partnerships, Emaar and Mr Wang, Managing Director, High Way Travel &amp; Tourism.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier in the day, HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, CEO and Founder of the Emirates Group and chairman of Dubai World, officially inaugurated the show, marking the start of the 28<sup>th <\/sup>edition of the Middle East\u2019s largest travel and tourism exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>Running through until Wednesday 19 May at the Dubai World Trade Centre, this year\u2019s event has 1,300 exhibitors from 62 countries including theUAE, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Italy, Germany, Cyprus, Egypt, Indonesia, Malaysia, South Korea, the Maldives, the Philippines, Thailand, Mexico and the US, underscoring the strength of ATM\u2019s reach.<\/p>\n<p>ATM 2021\u2019s show theme is appropriately \u2018A New Dawn for Travel &amp; Tourism\u2019 and spread across nine halls.<\/p>\n<p>This year, for the first time in ATM history, a new hybrid format will mean a virtual ATM running a week later, from 24-26 May, to complement and reach a wider audience than ever before.
