<\/p>\nThe eagerly anticipated ‘The Shape of Water’ is set to release across cinemas in the UAE on the 8th\u00a0March 2018. The fantasy-drama from\u00a0master story teller and Director, Guillermo del Toro has received heavy acclaim\u00a0with a host of accolades to its name, including thirteen nominations at the 90th\u00a0Academy Awards.<\/p>\n
The Oscar’s front runner is set against the backdrop of Cold War era America. It follows\u00a0lonely Elisa (Sally Hawkins), a\u00a0janitor at a space research facility who finds an immediate connection with a mysterious creature brought to the lab for study\u00a0. Elisa’s isolated life changes forever when she and co-worker Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover the secret classified experiment. Rounding out the cast are Michael Shannon, Richard Jenkins, Doug Jones and Michael Stuhlbarg.<\/p>\n
“I wanted to do a movie about an amphibian creature who changes the life of whoever rescues it,” says Guillermo del Toro later, during a break in filming. THE SHAPE OF WATER is the result, and the two characters meeting in this scene for the first time are at its heart. “The idea was, can we tell the story of a creature in another way?” continues del Toro<\/p>\n
The\u00a0American Film Institute\u00a0selected it as one of the\u00a0top 10 films of the year.\u00a0At the\u00a090th Academy Awards, the film received a leading 13 nominations, including\u00a0Best Picture,\u00a0Best Director,\u00a0Best Original Screenplay,\u00a0Best Actress\u00a0for Hawkins,\u00a0Best Supporting Actor\u00a0for Jenkins, and\u00a0Best Supporting Actress\u00a0for Spencer. It also won for\u00a0Best Director\u00a0and\u00a0Best Original Score\u00a0at the\u00a075th Golden Globe Awards, on top of five other nominations.\u00a0At the\u00a071st British Academy Film Awards, the film received 12 nominations, including\u00a0Best Film, and won three awards, including\u00a0Best Director.<\/p>\n
