The Environment and Protected Areas Authority (EPAA) is participating in UAE Innovation Month. Sharjah Innovation Week, which is organised by the supervising committee and held at Sharjah Book Authority\u2019s headquarters from February 8th<\/sup>\u00a0to 14th<\/sup>, is aimed at all classes and segments of society. The Sharjah Sustainability Award\u2019s winning projects will be featured.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are always keen to participate in UAE Innovation Month\u201d, said HE Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson. \u201cBy promoting a culture of innovation, it reflects the country\u2019s directives and the relentless efforts to encourage all members of society to come up with creative ideas in order to build a generation of innovators who can improve life.\u201d<\/p>\n

UAE Innovation Month is in line with the vision of the wise leadership, which views innovation as an approach and culture that covers all domains. Improvements in work and strategies will help to build a knowledge society capable of keeping pace with changes, facing challenges, achieving a better future and underscoring the country’s prestige globally.<\/p>\n

Mrs Al Suwaidi pointed out that the main aim of this important national event is to educate the public about Sharjah Sustainability Award and its objectives. It will also encourage students by displaying their projects and inspire all participants to compete and think creatively to find solutions for environmental problems.<\/p>\n

The programme will include a screening of the Sharjah Sustainability Award film and the EPAA will display projects by schools and universities that won the\u00a0sixth Award at its pavilion. The winning projects include a design for a solar\u00a0powered farm that floats on the sea by students of the University of Sharjah, and a project by the students of Al Qasimia University that involves using the hot air produced by air conditioners to create a clean environment. The students of Al Khalil bin Ahmed School won for their geo-electricity project, and Delhi Private School\u2019s advanced head-controlled wheelchair is designed to reduce the carbon footprint and conserve energy.<\/p>\n
