Swisslog<\/a>, a global leader in robotic, data-driven and flexible automated solutions, <\/strong>is physically displaying its highly efficient order processing solutions for single items at the 39th GITEX Technology Week, being held at the Dubai World Trade Centre from October 6-10.<\/p>\n

Swisslog, for the first time, partnered with Etisalat to showcase its latest robot-based solution ItemPiQ, which is specially designed for repeated, reliable picking of a wide range of items for the fast delivery of orders at low operating costs.<\/p>\n

With\u00a0picking and palletising making up to 60% of warehouse operational costs, the ItemPiQ robot can handle a wide variety of common products in retail, e-commerce and pharmaceutical industries weighing\u00a0up to 1.5kg and\u00a0can reach 1,100mm. By using 3D vision technology for object recognition, ItemPiQ\u2019s unique gripper can pick\u00a0up to 1,000 items per hour\u00a0and allows picking of a wide range of products of different shapes and sizes, error-free.<\/p>\n

Alain Kaddoum, General Manager at Swisslog Middle\u00a0East,\u00a0commented:<\/em><\/strong> \u201c<\/em>Businesses around the world are spending more on robotic process automation, machine learning and artificial intelligence. According to KPMC, enterprises are expected to invest $232 billion on technologies in 2025, up from $12.4 billion in 2018.<\/em>\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cThe Middle East is gearing up to take advantage of digitisation in a big way, and we are seeing companies in the region making real investments for real results today. A report by PwC Middle East says that 41% of participants surveyed from the region say they have already reached an advanced level of digitisation and integration and over 62% expect to be at such a level in five years\u2019 time. Compared to other countries around the world, that is an unusually high level of digitisation,<\/em>\u201d Alain Kaddoum added.<\/em><\/p>\n

Automation and information technology are central to several Middle East and North African countries\u2019 future development plans. Business in the Middle East are planning to invest more on AI-enabled projects. A research by International Data Corporation has predicted that the spending on the technology will reach $374.2 million by the end of this year, recording a 43% growth.<\/p>\n

As the mega event of Expo 2020 Dubai is nearing, Dubai\u2019s aim to become a pioneering smart city has already started to take shape. Dubai has been adopting, installing and implementing every technology, structure and strategy in the preparation and construction of the Expo 2020 site. The event like GITEX Technology Week, the biggest technology show in the Middle East, North Africa and South Asia, is also complimenting the government strategy, by showing latest technological trends and featuring over 4,800 companies and startups from around the world.<\/p>\n

\u201c<\/em>The UAE is adopting innovation, research, science and technology to stimulate a diversified and knowledge-driven economy.<\/em> According to a report by PwC, the technology is projected to contribute up to 14% to the UAE\u2019s GDP growth by 2030,\u201d commented Kaddoum.<\/em><\/p>\n
