Five young players from Manchester City Football Schools in the UAE have travelled to clubs all over the world as part of their development\u00a0<\/span>programme<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The initiative is unmatched in UAE and Middle East youth football \u2013 allowing young players the chance of a full experience at a City Football Group club on the international stage.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The five boys \u2013 aged between 10 and 13 \u2013\u00a0were\u00a0coached at Manchester City FC, New York City FC, Yokohama F.\u00a0Marinos\u00a0in Japan and\u00a0Girona\u00a0FC in Catalonia.<\/span><\/p>\n

They have all been part of City Football Schools, which is based in Abu Dhabi and Dubai, and were chosen due to the progress they have made in the last few seasons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The boys\u00a0will now start the new season back in the UAE and have spoken\u00a0of the incredible experience this summer.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Joshua\u00a0<\/span>Hoferer<\/span>, who was in\u00a0Japan to train with Yokohama F.\u00a0Marinos, said: “It was so\u00a0exciting\u00a0to train with the Yokohama\u00a0F.\u00a0Marinos\u00a0players and coaches. I\u00a0feel the\u00a0experience\u00a0has\u00a0taken\u00a0me one\u00a0step\u00a0closer toward my\u00a0goal of becoming a professional\u00a0football player. This\u00a0has been\u00a0the\u00a0chance\u00a0of a lifetime for me and I’m very grateful to City Football Schools\u00a0for this amazing opportunity.”\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Isaac Brown headed to New York to train with New York City FC, and said: “I just couldn’t wait to get to New York City FC and it really showed me what is needed to play at the highest level.\u00a0The coaches were impressed with my speed and technical skills, we got the chance to do 1 v 1s and a penalty\u00a0<\/span>shoot out<\/span>, which I scored in. I also got the chance to have lunch with Claudio Reyna and got a ball signed by all of the first team players \u2013 they even invited me to play with them anytime I’m in New York. The trip was incredible and I’m so grateful to City Football Schools for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas Nesbitt and Robert March\u00a0flew\u00a0to the UK to train\u00a0with\u00a0Premier League Champions, Manchester City FC, at the famous Etihad Campus\u00a0in Manchester.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Thomas said: “The facility is just the best football campus in the world and to be part of it this summer was incredible. From start to finish we really got to see what goes on at the home of the Premier League champions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Robert\u00a0added:”I have been coached at City Football Schools in Abu Dhabi for the past seven years and have supported City all my life.\u00a0What was\u00a0really\u00a0great\u00a0was\u00a0to learn\u00a0in-depth\u00a0how the academy works and to hear from the\u00a0range of\u00a0coaches in Manchester.\u00a0It\u00a0is an important step in my development both on and off the pitch.\u00a0“<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon Hewitt\u00a0is the Head of Football Operations\u00a0for Manchester City in the Middle East and across North Africa.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

He\u00a0explained\u00a0how this special summer initiative was devised and what the hopes are for it\u00a0both now and in the future.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Simon said: “We are always looking at new ways to improve and enhance the experience of the players participating in the City Football Schools\u00a0<\/span>programme<\/span>. This\u00a0initiative\u00a0was a very exciting one and as a coaching team we are delighted to be offering these once-in-a-lifetime opportunities.<\/span><\/p>\n

“<\/span>These coaching experiences\u00a0are\u00a0within our\u00a0new Talented Player Programme, which has been introduced\u00a0as part of the\u00a0overall player development pathway, starting from\u00a0a child’s\u00a0very first steps into football.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

“With City Football Group’s unique network of clubs around the world, we have at our disposal a wide range of opportunities and experiences to offer.”<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
