{"id":13535,"date":"2019-05-05T14:16:46","date_gmt":"2019-05-05T10:16:46","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.middleeastevents.com\/blog\/?p=13535"},"modified":"2019-05-05T14:16:46","modified_gmt":"2019-05-05T10:16:46","slug":"instagram-launches-monthofgood-movement-and-first-ever-ramadan-camera-effect","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.middleeastevents.com\/blog\/instagram-launches-monthofgood-movement-and-first-ever-ramadan-camera-effect\/","title":{"rendered":"Instagram Launches #MonthOfGood Movement And First Ever Ramadan Camera Effect"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In keeping with the spirit of Ramadan, Instagram is launching its first ever Ramadan campaign \u2013 #MonthOfGood \u2013 calling on the global community to celebrate and share kindness on its platform. \u00a0To coincide with the campaign, Instagram is also launching its first ever Ramadan camera effect \u201cLantern\u201d, to encourage members of the Instagram community to share their Ramadan celebrations and acts of kindness in a fun and creative way.<\/p>\n<p>An act of kindness can be something as simple as posting positive comments on friends\u2019 or colleagues\u2019 social channels, to thanking friends and family for iftar or sohoor; to volunteering within your community and sharing it as an example to others to be kind and do good.<\/p>\n<p>The camera effect, \u201cLantern\u201d features subtle bokeh and crescent shapes inspired by the ornamental arabesque design style. The shapes and textures used are traditionally associated with Ramadan. The effect is multi-layered and people can tap the screen to move to a traditional crescent design effect and then the option of English or Arabic Ramadan greetings.<\/p>\n<p>Instagram has also revealed new data showing how Instagram is a key place for people to come and share their celebrations and acts of kindness during the Holy Month. Last year between 16 May 2018 and 14 June 2018, the first and last days of Ramadan, there were over 15m feed posts about Ramadan.<\/p>\n<p>In countries where Ramadan is a key celebration, words associated with kindness and good deeds, such as charity, donating and generosity increased significantly during the holy month in 2018:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In UAE, posts containing the words \u201cdonate\u201d or \u201cdonation\u201d increased by 97%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This year, building on this behaviour, Instagram is asking its followers to share their moments of kindness and celebration, using the new camera effect and tagging their content with the #MonthOfGood.<\/p>\n<p>Commenting on the launch of the campaign and camera effect, <strong>Samer Jamal, Strategic Partner Manager, MENA at Instagram said<\/strong>,<\/p>\n<p>\u201cInstagram is a diverse, global community and Ramadan is one of the biggest cultural moments celebrated on the platform. Our data shows that Ramadan is a time when people come to Instagram to share their moments of kindness and good deeds \u2013 with words associated with charity increasing significantly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKindness does not have to be a grand gesture. In fact, small and unexpected acts can have a huge impact on someone\u2019s day. That\u2019s why we\u2019re delighted to launch #MonthOfGood and our first ever Ramadan camera effect, so that people on Instagram have a fun and creative way to express their good deeds and celebrations this Holy Month.
