During the ceremony, the students were appointed as \u201cBil Arabi Ambassadors\u201d to represent MBRF\u2019s \u201cBil Arabi\u201d initiative in the UK, organise events to support the use of the Arabic language and promote it among the Arab communities in Britain, and act as a link between Arab students in the UK and the activities of the \u201cBil Arabi\u201d initiative all around the world.<\/p>\n
MBRF\u2019s CEO His Excellency Jamal bin Huwaireb honoured several Emirati students who have made positive and effective contributions to the Foundation\u2019s pavilion at the Book Fair \u2013 which sought to reflect the UAE\u2019s culture \u2013 and announced the \u201cBil Arabi Ambassadors\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n
\u201cIn December 2013, the Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Knowledge Foundation launched \u2018Bil Arabi\u2019 to celebrate UN Arabic Language Day on December 18,\u201d H.E. bin Huwaireb said. \u201cThe initiative seeks to promote the use of the Arabic language in digital media and social networks. Six years following its initial launch, \u2018Bil Arabi\u2019 has been successful in promoting the use of the Arabic language among native speakers, and underlining its versatility and relevance in all eras.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cThe initiative has expanded significantly through constructive cooperation between the Foundation and its strategic partners in both the public and private sectors. Additional activities have been introduced, targeting all segments of the community, most recent of which is the \u2018Bil Arabi Ambassadors\u2019 initiative we launched today,\u201d H.E. added, urging the students to read more material in Arabic, to use their native language to communicate with others, and to encourage non-native speakers to learn it.<\/p>\n
\u201cBil Arabi\u201d is a pioneering initiative that seeks to promote Arabic, position it among the world\u2019s major languages, and to encourage its preservation and use in all channels of social communication. The initiative has been well received among all segments of Emirati, Arab, and international communities; it has held several successful events in the UAE and abroad where the significant turnout reflected Arabic speakers\u2019 dedication to preserving and promoting their language.<\/p>\n
