Dubai
, UAE - April 20, 2009:
Since the completion of the Dubai World Trade Centre Tower in 1978, Dubai has been synonymous with the design and construction of iconic tall buildings. Now in its third year MEED Events’ Building Tall 2009, being held on the 27th – 28th April 2009 at The Westin Hotel, Dubai, is the leading forum for industry professionals to gain the latest information on the super tall projects currently under construction in the Gulf and across the world.
Speaking about the forthcoming event Edmund O’Sullivan, Chairman of MEED Events commented, “Building tall towers produces a unique set of building and design challenges that have to be met. In striving to reach ever higher, the architects and engineers involved continually push the envelope in terms of new construction techniques, methods and materials used to complete developments such as the Burj Dubai. Already the plans are in place for the world’s next generation of supertall towers that will push the technological limits even further, and only by learning the lessons from the current projects will they be successful.”
For any project, accurate and detailed information is critical to success and MEED’s Building Tall 2009 conference has been designed as the forum for fact finding, intelligence gathering & high level networking centred specifically on the design and construction of tall towers.
Leading architects, structural engineers, consultants, government authorities, key stakeholders, developers and contractors will be outlining the key issues, facts and information and offering unrivalled insights pertaining to the design and construction of super tall towers.
Over the two days of the conference attendees will be able to gain first hand insight into how to overcome the challenges of building at great heights as well as discovering how the region’s leading contractors, architects and project planners are ensuring that their current Middle East projects are viable and in line with the current ‘green’ and sustainable building regulations.
Expert speakers and panel session participants will include Bart Sullivan, PE, Vice President / ME Director, WSP Cantor Seinuk; Alf Seeling, Principal, Woods Baggot; Craig Gibbons, Director, Arup; Gurjit Singh, Chief Property Development Officer, Sorouh; Andy Davids, Consulting Director Structures, Hyder; Toby Blunt, Partner, Foster + Partners and Bill Jolly, Head of Sustainability, KEO International Consultants.
