The First Innovation Accelerator Program for startups in the Middle East has been announced by Innovation 360, a global innovation consulting firm based in Dubai. The program will be launched in Dubai during November 2012.
The “i360accelerator” is a 60-day idea acceleration and seed funding program that offers participants the opportunity to work on and refine a startup idea, while receiving training on entrepreneurship and innovation.
Kamal Hassan, founder and CEO of Innovation 360 Consultancy, explained, “The region is in need of an entrepreneurial ecosystem to help guide startups and SMEs to become successful businesses whose offerings contribute to economic diversification and benefit society. Our goal is to make the accelerator one part of a comprehensive framework that furthers the entrepreneurial ecosystem.”

A competition is now underway to decide the theme of the November innovation accelerator session, which will determine what challenges and startup ideas accelerator participants will work on, as well as the type of innovation and IP that will be developed during this round of the accelerator. The theme will maximize the opportunity for relevant sponsors and investors who will be looking for the solutions accelerator teams are building.
The i360accelerator will offer an affordable place for entrepreneurs to meet and work, as well as a five-step program to help entrepreneurs form and stress test a team, conduct market research and analysis, refine their idea and make it more innovative, create a prototype and design, and commercialize their offering, including investor pitches and matching.
The first accelerator session is scheduled to begin in November 2012.
