    RTA Mass Transit Experiment Exhibited In Riyadh, Brussels

    Dubai , UAE - January 19, 2011

    Road & Transport Authority – Nashwan Att’aaee: A delegation of the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) in Dubai has exhibited at the Saudi capital Riyadh RTA’s mass transit expertise and the advancements made in this sector along with the future plans and strategic initiatives intended to be launched by the RTA.

    A presentation to this effect was made during two elaborate workshops organized by the International Association of Public Transport (UITP) for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region attended by the agencies concerned with the regulation of public transport as well as the operation and maintenance of public buses. The Workshops were held under the auspices of the Minister of Transport in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H.E. Dr. Jubara bin Eid Al Seraisri, in the presence of the Undersecretary for Saudi Transport in the Transport Ministry Dr. Abdul Aziz bin Abdul Rahman Al Ohali, and the UITP Secretary General Hans Rat. The events were also attended by a large number of representatives of public & private companies from the UAE, MENA region and the European Commission.

    RTA delegation to the Workshops comprised of RTA Board Member and Chairperson of the Organizing Committee of the 59th UITP Congress scheduled to be held in Dubai this year Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla, CEO of Public Transport Agency Eisa Abdul Rahman Al Dosari, CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation Abdul Aziz Malik, Director of Buildings & Facilities and Director of the Congress Events Hosting Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali, and the Director of Bus, Public Transport Agency Furat Al Aamri.

    Highlighting the importance of holding the 59th UITP Congress 2011 in Dubai Al Mulla said: “The UAE in general and Dubai in particular enjoys a high profile as a premier business, tourist and service center thanks to the diverse events, conferences and exhibitions held representing a broad spectrum of business & technological sectors which made the Emirate a key player in conventions and exhibitions industry.

    “RTA has completed preparations for hosting this global event which promises to be a turning point and a key platform for broadening and upgrading the public transport sector not only in the UAE but also across the MENA region; which is witnessing a fast development in various sectors,” continued Al Mulla.

    In another development, a delegation headed by Mohammed Obaid Al Mulla also took part in the UITP meetings recently held in the Belgian capital Brussels. The delegation also included the CEO of Dubai Taxi Corporation Abdul Aziz Malik, and the Director of Buildings & Facilities and Director of the 59th UITP Congress Events Hosting Mohammed Abdullah Al Ali. The meeting discussed the UITP’s strategies, the budget allocated for 2011, and the acceptance of memberships from new members who joined the Association.

    This meeting was followed by another meeting between the Committee of Hosting the UITP Congress in Dubai and the Congress Organizing Team at the UITP through which the two parties reviewed RTA’s arrangements and preparations for hosting the Congress. The members of the UITP Congress Organizing Team expressed their satisfaction with the presentation made by the Congress Hosting Committee.

    The two parties fixed the date of …………………………………., for a visit by the UITP Congress Organizing Team to Dubai to see the work progress and check the latest developments in this regard. They stressed the need to finalize all preparations for launching the Congress two month before the scheduled date of the Congress in April 2011.
