    Franklin Templeton Announces Senior Management Appointment For CEEMEA Region

    Dubai , UAE - July 4, 2010

    Franklin Resources, Inc. (operating as Franklin Templeton Investments) (NYSE: BEN) today announced that Andrew Ashton has been named Senior Director and Regional Head – CEEMEA, Franklin Templeton Investments with immediate effect. In this role, Ashton will be responsible for providing leadership and developing the firm’s retail and institutional businesses across the CEEMEA (Central & Eastern Europe, Middle East & Africa) region. Based in Dubai – United Arab Emirates, Ashton will report to Vivek Kudva, Managing Director – India and CEEMEA, Franklin Templeton Investments.

    Commenting on Ashton’s appointment, Kudva said: “Franklin Templeton has been focusing on the growth opportunities in international markets for several years. Andrew’s appointment reflects our strong belief in the potential of further developing Franklin Templeton’s businesses in the CEEMEA region.”

    Prior to taking on his new role, Ashton was CEO and President of Franklin Templeton Investment Trust Management Company Korea for four years, responsible for managing Franklin Templeton’s Korean asset management business. Ashton has over 15 years experience in the financial services industry. He holds a B.A. Business Studies (UK) and an M.B.A. (with distinction) from Edinburgh University Management School, Scotland.
